Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) has announced the launch of a new commuter train service between Mukono and Kampala, set to commence on Monday, November 11, 2024.
The long-awaited service aims to ease transportation for daily commuters and reduce congestion on the roads between the two cities.
The new train schedule includes both morning and evening trips to accommodate a wide range of travelers.
The morning trip departs Mukono at 6:30 a.m., with a stop at Namanve at 7:05 a.m., before arriving in Kampala at 7:40 a.m.
This service is expected to benefit workers and students traveling to the capital early in the day.
In the evening, there are two separate services. The first evening train leaves Kampala at 5:30 p.m., arriving in Namanve at 6:05 p.m., with a return journey departing from Namanve at 6:15 p.m. and arriving in Kampala at 6:45 p.m.
The second evening service departs Kampala at 7:30 p.m., reaches Namanve at 8:05 p.m., and concludes in Mukono at 8:30 p.m.
This new service is expected to have a significant impact on the daily commute, providing a convenient, fast, and budget-friendly option for residents of Mukono and Kampala.
