Rajiv Ruparelia, son of Ugandan tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia, dies in a car accident.

The driver lost control of the car as it was approaching Munyonyo from Kajjansi after colliding with temporary pavements that had been put in at the flyover’s roundabout section.

Businessman Rajiv Ruparelia died in a car accident at the Busabala Flyover traffic lights in Makindye-Ssabagabo, Wakiso District, according to police confirmation.

On Saturday, May 3, 2025, SP Michael Kananura, a spokesman for the traffic police, stated that Rajiv was driving a Nissan GTR car with registration number UAT 638L when it struck temporary pavements placed at the flyover’s roundabout section. The driver then lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.

The Ugandan business tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia is the father of Rajiv.
Rajiv was traveling from Kajjansi to Munyonyo when the collision occurred, according to SP Kananura.


“The driver, Mr. Rajiv Ruparelia, died instantly when the car overturned and caught fire. Although the precise cause of the crash has not yet been identified, investigations are being conducted, and the public will be updated as new information becomes available, Mr. Kananura stated. Businessman Rajiv Ruparelia died in the early hours of May 3, 2025, when his vehicle overturned at the Busabala Flyover. Police firefighters extinguished the fire at the scene.

Rally car driver Rajiv has served as managing director of the Ruparielia Group, one of the biggest multisectoral conglomerates in East Africa with operations in a variety of industries, including banking, insurance, broadcasting, real estate, floriculture, and hotels and resorts.
