Terrifying Scenes in Nyenge-Kisoga: Dozens Die in YY Bus Fire

A YY Coaches bus with registration number UAV 701C overturned and caught fire near Makindu Trading Centre in Buikwe District on Monday night, reportedly killing a number of people.

Michael Kananura, a spokesman for the traffic police, stated that the tragic event happened in Makindu Village, along the Kisoga–Nyenga Road in Buikwe District, at around 5:00 PM.
“YY Company’s Scania motor vehicle, registration number UAV 701C, was involved in the collision,” Kananura stated in a succinct statement on Monday night.

The car began to veer off the road, overturn, and then burst into flames after the driver lost control the vehicle.
When the driver lost control at Makindu Village, the car was on its way from Katosi to Jinja. After it overturned and caught fire, several passengers were hurt and taken to Kawolo Hospital, St. Francis Lwanga Hospital in Buikwe, and other local medical facilities, where they are presently receiving treatment. The victims have not yet been identified, Kananura said.

In order to put out the fire and recover the bodies of those who died in the collision, he added, police and emergency personnel raced to the scene.
